I needed Vabbian armor for HoM, had a female derv, easiest decision I ever made. (don't like most of the other vabbian armours anyways.)

I see no point in making them male, simply because I am male in real life. They still wouldn't represent the real "me" at all. (If my characters really represented me, they'd look extremely dull and would not be able to use magic, wear heavy armour, smash giant enemies etc etc)
QFT: I will on occasion be called a pedo, tranny, or even have it assumed that I am female just because I'm on one of my female chars. When I make a char I first decide the class, then the armor I want as a final goal looking at both male and female armour sets. All spellcasters I make (other than rit) are automatically female (don't like the male versions), then the rest just falls into place.

Mostly, I'm on my main anyways. The alts are rarely used, most haven't even finished a campaign.

My 2 mains (one is my bro's that I'll never delete in case he wants to play JQ for hours and benefit me , I let him have a slot or two when I got the game) are both male. The only reason my pre-sear char is female is because I've done every combo of male warrior for proph imaginable over the years and I wanted to be the "Valkyrie of Pre" when I made a perma.

Balance is always considered but really its just a matter of what I want to do with the character.

M R (main)
M W (bro's main)
F Me
F E
F N
M Rt
F D (made just for vabbian)
F W (pre)
F P (dudes looked too fruity, didn't want gold nipple curiass)
F A (want to delete but too much work has been done, also don't think its too big a deal so I'm not bothering with the makeover, sins lack customization anyways)
empty slot used for pvp chars normally, always changes.

so it's 3:7, big whoop. Doesn't make me a pedo, perv, homo, etc. does it? Trust me I hate Asley Graham as much as the next guy! *LEON HELLLP!!!*

If you're so insecure about your sexuality that you stare at your PC while playing guild wars, you should really just come out of the closet.

I agree with Reddog91. If I roll female characters I spend all my cash making the glamorous. I originally rolled a female character so I didn't have to stare at a guy's butt for my playing time. After constant harassment I changed to a male character haha.

Boobs > no boobs. Until Anet allows men to show off their assets, they are fighting a losing battle here.

Like others, it comes down to individual looks.
Or just chance.

F Necromancer - Goth chick > goth dude
F Elementalist - males just look stupid
F Ritualist - Female spirit spammer > male spirit spammer
F Mesmer - female, mainly because they all look so elegant compared to the guys who look too dandy-ish

M Assassin - male ninja looked better than female ninja
M Dervish - started a male for the hell of it, and haven't tried anything else
M Ranger - could have gone either way, but I wanted a male so I could reference Robin Hood

M/F Warrior - I liked the male elite Kurzick and primeval armor better, and I liked the female elite Luxon and elite gladiator armor better.
I've taken different approaches with each, using the male as a spearchucker and axe wielder and the female as a swordswoman and Earth shaker.

My count is:

- Male: War, Ele, Sin, Ra, Derv
- Fem: Mez, Nec, Para

Before I roll a toon, the looks play big part on that choice. For example, all male paras look bad, no matter the gear they have, so I rolled a female para.

My only regret is the male Ele. The model looks awesome, but male ele armors are teh suck. Tried full sets and combos and none seemed to satisfy me. Female ele armors look way better. A lil "Lamp Genie" sometimes. But overall better than males.

But my real problem is with the sins. F have better looking armor. But the model is obnoxiously anorexic. M sins are just a bit less anorexic, but the armors are plain ugly. I remember using that Shing Jea kimono like for ages untill I found an (at least) acceptable combo (what happened only in GWEN).

Almost like that, are the necros. M/F, both look great. F looks better overall. But sometimes I found M armors more [email protected] - namely the Necrotic or Elite Luxon.

I play all female characters because I am a woman myself, and I find it easier to immerse myself in the game when I can relate in some way to the character I'm playing as.

Also, because I like the female character's appearances and armor better, for the most part. The only profession I'd make a male of is Mesmer, and that's just something I do to mess around in PvP sometimes

(also, about female assassins...skinny does not automatically mean anorexic)

I chose male/female based on alot of factors, looks is simply one. My last toon was a pre warrior. I really wanted a male named Orion (based on the constilation) but the pre warrior is in a skirt, so the toon might as well look good, so it was female named Tio. Since my next pre will be ranger he will be the male named Orion.

I also have evey profesionin both genders. When I do make a toon I generally decide on the profesion, then the name wich detemine the gender.

It did take me long time to get around to keeping a male necro, they generally are ugly and the way they run just freaks me out.

My m/f decision is simply based on the available armour designs for that profession and the hair/face combo's offered.

There are simply to many ugly / similar male armour designs compared to female options.

Most of my chars are female for the simple reason they have far superior armour sets and better customisation ( I have one of all profs except rit & assa).

Only males I have are pre monk and ranger. The monk because he's useful and rangers are pretty cool regardless of being male/female.
I also have a Mesmer bloke as I rather like the dashing, dandy look they have, and a bloated Warrior tho he's only useful as a mule.

Think i'll get a spare char slot and start up a male rit, they seem to have better appearance/armour options than the females do. ^.^

well, i have 8 character slots, 4 have a male char and 4 a female.
However, only 4 characters i consider main characters.
3 of those r female, and 1 male.

The biggest reason if I decide male or female is how he/she will look.
I ended up with;
- male Ele (Prophecies)
- female Mesmer (Prophecies)
- female Necro (Prophecies)
- female Ele (Nightfall) (becos fem ele elite sunspear armor looks soooo HOT )

(yeah, i prefer to play caster classes )

I find that the female versions of most armour sets are superior. Female mesmers, for example, have the better version of nearly every elite set. Female necros and warriors are able to put together some quite nice combinations.

I have all female characters because I dislike the looks/animations of pretty much every single male version more than I dislike every single female version.

I hate how male mesmers, necros, and monks run. I like how female rangers shoot their bows more than males. I like the general look of female warriors over male ones, although I do prefer the male hammer animations over the female ones. Pretty much every single profession has better armor on females than males. I'm generally just really picky and minor things that others don't notice will annoy me to the point where I refuse to play my character. Females just seem to have the least annoyances about their looks and animations.

I pick based on looks of each class. Before I roll a character I look at male and female faces/hair of both genders, see which ones look best, and pick that one.
  • Female assassin because male assassin armor is retarded.
  • Female Factions necro because male necros look retarded; I like NF necros better but it was a farming character and Factions is faster.
  • Male Proph warrior because it doesn't look retarded vs Factions & NF warriors.
  • Female rit because... she's nicer to look at than a guy rit.

Et cetera.

I play all male characters because I am a guy and I see my characters as a representation of me in-game. I had a female PvP character once, but it just felt... wrong.
